I can’t believe it’s May already. April was a big month for me because I finished school and found out I was matched with my internship. Above all else, I earned my verification statement (a document that states you have completed a didactic program in dietetics, which you have to have to be eligible to complete a dietetic internship). This is something I have been working on for YEARS and I feel great that I have finally finished it!
At the beginning of every month, I like to get my thoughts organized. I think about what I have coming up on my schedule, things that need to get done and things I have been putting off for a while. Here’s what’s going on in May…
Complete assignments for my internship
I have about 15-20 hours worth of assignments to complete prior to my internship orientation in June, one of which is a big group project. I have my textbook so I need to get myself organized with this.
Switch out my winter and summer clothes
I don’t know why this is always such a big deal but it usually takes up a good part of my weekend. I keep all of my ‘off season’ clothes stored in a big Rubbermaid tub and twice per year I switch everything out. I also take the time to weed through my clothes and donate anything that I don’t wear anymore. It is probably not going to help that my clothes look like a bomb went off in my bedroom and I’ve completely maxed out of closet space. I’m obviously putting this one off as long as possible :)
Family visits
Including a visit back home, a visit to my grandmother’s and a visit from K’s family
Come up with better make-up storage
My make-up storage right now is not very functional, and it all ends up scattered around on our guest bathroom counter. It kind of gives me anxiety looking at it every morning.
Stick with a better workout plan
I need to definitely do this!
Relax by the pool
Our pool opens next weekend and I think I need a little R&R before my internship starts
Speaking of my internship, I’ve made a lot of progress since my last update. Here is my to-do list (things I’ve just finished are in red):
Call USU to accept my position in the internship programMake hotel reservation for June orientationBuy plane tickets for June orientationOrder background checkGet immunization records for Hep B, MMR and tetanus vaccinesSchedule appointment for chicken pox titer and TB test- Submit completed immunization record to the school (I haven’t actually submitted it yet but I have gotten my chicken pox titer and first TB test done. My next tb test is scheduled for next week)
Apply to USU (this is a formality but they still need an app on file)- Complete master rotation schedule
Order IDNT reference manualSubmit Prior Assessed Learning paperwork (to hopefully get credit for part of my food service rotation)Apply for their scholarship programSubmit FAFSA- Renew my ServSafe certificate
- Complete confidentiality agreement
- Purchase a headset/microphone for my computer
The biggest thing for me right now is to complete my final rotation schedule, which is the order I’m going to complete my rotation. I have had quite a time doing this because I’m working around the schedules of 5 different preceptors.
