This has been the second year that K and I volunteered with our alumni association at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. We sell Ben & Jerry’s to raise money for the association’s scholarship fund.
We started the day by taking a shuttle to Quail Hollow because you can’t park at the golf course. Their shuttle system is very organized and we had no issue getting to the golf course in time.
The dress code for working the tournament is pretty strict… white polo shirt, plain khaki pants (not shorts/capris), white shoes, hair up, only 1 ring per finger, and no large or dangle earrings. You’re also not allowed to take any pictures. Obviously I did, but I figured it was okay since they were not of the golfers.
We have several carts set up along the holes. K and I worked together for part of the shift and then separated towards the end to help cover another cart.
Working this event is usually pretty enjoyable but yesterday the weather was too cold. If I had a dollar for every time someone suggested we sell hot chocolate instead of ice cream, we definitely would have raised more money than we did actually selling ice cream.
The highlight of the day was when Greg Olsen, the tight end for the Panther’s, bought ice cream from us. I did not recognize him but K did and was pretty excited.
As a side note, the houses that sit on the golf course are amazing:
