I hope everyone is having a great weekend.
Yesterday I spent a lot of the day out running errands. I spent over an hour in Ulta picking out some new makeup and hair products. Damn those make-up testers! They will suck you in every time. I also ran by the library and picked up Amanda Knox’s book, which was on hold for me. I am excited to read it, especially because I was on a wait list of over 500 people.
This weekend marked the beginning of Charlotte Restaurant Week (also known as The Queen’s Feast), when over 100 restaurants offer 3-course meals for $30 per person. Something great about living in Charlotte is all of the great restaurant options… but it can be a little overwhelming picking a place to eat when you don’t know the city very well. We usually end up eating at the same places over and over again. K and I like Restaurant Week because it’s pretty simple to look at the CRW website and select a restaurant. It’s also a fun way to try out a new places.
This time around we decided to eat at Malabar, which is a Spanish restaurant in uptown.
I liked that the restaurant was nice but not stuffy. The service was great and the food was delicious.
Here’s what we got:
Tapas: Romesco (eggplant bruschetta), Calamar a la Plancha (calamari), Albondigas (meatballs) and Canelones (manicotti)
My dinner: Gambas al Ajo (sauteed garlic shrimp) w/ potatoes
We split desserts- Empanadas Dulces and Chocolate & Cafe Mousse
I loved this restaurant and would eat here again. It’s actually right beside the performing arts theater, and it would be fun to grab some drinks and tapas here before a show.
One thing about restaurant week is that, in our experience at least, we could eat at a lot of these restaurants without spending $60 since we are not bit appetizer or dessert people. I would not normally get 2 tapas, an entree and a dessert. That said, it’s a fun thing to do every once in a while.
So I guess dinner was our weekend highlight :) I am hoping to go to Nordstrom at some point today as well as get groceries for the week. I’m also trying to decide whether I should go running, biking or head to the gym since I haven’t worked out all weekend. Decisions, decisions.
Tomorrow begins week 7 of my inpatient clinicals. I’m working 10-hr shifts for the next two weeks so I only have 8 days left at the hospital!
