Hope you’ve had a relaxing weekend J
My mission on Saturday was to purchase new bedding for our master bedroom. We got a duvet and cover several years ago but the duvet insert was so hot that we stopped using it. We are actually using my comforter from college right now because it is super comfy. We have been ignoring the giant rip in it and the fuchsia color for the past 10 months.
We decided this year that instead of getting each other Christmas presents, we would get a new comforter and sheets for ourselves. We really wanted some nice sheets and probably wouldn’t normally splurge on something like that. My mom got us a nice set right after we got married and they are pretty worn out from overuse.
I think I spent 4-5 hours yesterday shopping for bedding. I went to Homegoods, TJMaxx, Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy’s. I did not find a comforter but I did find a new set of sheets!
Before I went shopping, I googled how to pick out sheets. I know that sounds dumb but I seriously had no idea what to look for. I read online that people emphasize thread count but that really types of fabric are just as important. According to Martha Stewart, who is *obviously* the expert, a 300 thread count is can be adequate depending on the fabric. I think I spent about 45 minutes in TJMaxx feeling every single set of queen size sheets they had in stock. I settled on a set that 500 thread count Egyptian Cotton. They felt the softest to me. I can’t wait to sleep on them tonight!
After A LOT of looking, we decided to pass on getting a new comforter. We are going to buy a new duvet insert that is not as hot and go back to using our old duvet cover. There are a lot more duvet options and it will be easier to change later down the road if we want something different.
So after all of my bedding adventures, I’ve been laying around all day today. It has been pretty awesome not having to worry about studying!
What’s coming up this week:
-Starting a 5k training plan
-Probably making an appearance at the gym
-Starting back at work as a new RD
I hope you have a great week!
