Hi everyone… Just wanted to say thanks for all of your thoughts and texts today. My surgery was pretty quick (I checked in at 7am and was home around 11:30). I had a lot of anxiety about going under anesthesia but the hospital, Kyle and my mom were really great. The good news is that I can already tell that I no longer feel like I have something stuck in my throat, which is one of the reasons I had the surgery to begin with.
The recovery is supposed to be painful for the first week, pretty sore throat the second week and tender for the third week. My doctor told me that it gets worse before it gets better, and that the day of surgery shouldn’t be very painful compared to the days following because of everything they gave me in the hospital. I have found that to be pretty true because I felt OK earlier and was able to eat Popsicles, but I just woke up in some pretty severe pain about an hour ago. I cannot eat anything except ice tonight. Hoping tomorrow is better.
Thanks again for the positive thoughts!
