Hi, everyone. I just wanted to say thank you so much to everyone who has checked in on me since my surgery.
The past 5 days have been pretty rough. My doctor warned me that the first week was going to be painful, but I guess there is a difference between being told this and then actually experiencing it.
The only things I have been able to eat so far are Jello and ice chips. My poor husband has gone to the grocery store for Jello runs twice now . I have tried to eat something new everyday (popsicles, hard boiled egg whites, pureed apples, mashed potatoes, pureed chicken mixed with chicken broth) and so far have not been able to eat anything. At first I was only able to suck on ice chips, but starting yesterday I have been able to drink some Gatorade as long as it’s heavily mixed with crushed ice.
I really wanted to get out of the house today, so my husband took me to Starbucks down the street and I got a Frappuccino. It didn’t hurt but I will probably wait a few days before I try something like that again… it caused so much gunk build-up in the back of my throat that I felt like I was choking. I had to alternate between taking sips of that and drinking water, and then I spent some time coughing up junk out of the back of my throat. No bueno.
It was good to get some fresh air, though!
So that’s what is going on with me right now. I’m hoping that I will start to feel a lot better in the next few days since Wednesday will be 1 week since my surgery. Thanks again for your thoughts!
