Heyyyy there.
I know I have been a little MIA lately! And it’s May? What? April seriously flew by.
I have been working on several big projects at work and haven’t had much time for blog posts. Hopefully things will calm down in the next few weeks so I can get back in the swing of things. In the meantime, here’s a little bit of what’s been going on lately…
New Technology
I’ve recently gotten a new phone and computer and both of those have kept me pretty busy.
Phone: I switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy s5 and getting my contacts (10 years worth of contacts) transferred was a bit of a fiasco. I purchased the phone from Best Buy and ended up spending several hours there two nights in a row because my contacts would not transfer to the s5. They wouldn’t back up to the cloud, sync through google, back-up into iTunes, etc. Two nights and one mental breakdown later, the Geek Squad app saved the day! I love my new phone and plan to do a comparison of my old and new phone sometime soon!
Computer: I’ve been in the market for a new laptop for a while and decided to treat myself to an upgrade once I finished school and was working again. I ordered a laptop back in March when I had my surgery but ended up returning it after a few weeks. I had really wanted something super lightweight (like 3lb) but ultimately I did not want to sacrifice the performance and speed of the computer. I also did not want an Apple so that really limited my options in terms of super lightweight computers. I ended up getting this Toshiba and spent this past weekend cleaning up my old computer and transferring everything. It’s not quite as light as I had wanted but overall I really like it.
High School Reunion Planning
I was senior class president in high school and am in the midst of planning our 10 year reunion! It has been a lot more work than I had intended with finding a facility and figuring out how to sell tickets and collect money. I think everything is worked out now but planning has kept me pretty busy. I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone!
Back in the Fitness Game
Speaking of high school reunion, I am planning on running in a 5k in June that is held in memory of one of my fellow classmates who passed away in college. We planned the reunion to coincide with the 5k and I’m hoping a lot of my fellow graduates will participate. I haven’t gotten any physical activity in the past 6 weeks due to my surgery and it’s been about 10 years since I’ve ran more than a mile consecutively… but I’m going to participate in the spirit of the event. I’ve gone out running a few times this week and hopefully I will not make a fool of myself in June
Getting Licensed
Do you ever have something that needs to be done but you keep putting it off and putting it off? That is how I was with my licensure. I was able to apply to get licensed as an RD in February but I kept pushing it to the back burner. I finally got everything filled out and notarized before Easter and I’m now officially a licensed dietitian in the state of NC!!
Birthday Weekend
We drove down to SC to celebrate my sister’s 27th bday this past weekend and ate at a great restaurant called Cribb’s. Everything was great!
So, that’s a little bit of what has been going on. Have a great weekend!
