Hey there! Hope you’re enjoying your Sunday. I’ve been feeling under the weather for the past few days, so I used this weekend as an opportunity to be a lazy bum. I laid on the couch, watched lots of trashy reality TV, drank many cups of hot tea, and did not clean or cook anything. How’s that for healthy living?
I did manage to pull myself together Saturday evening because we had a dinner reservation for Charlotte Restaurant Week. This is the last weekend and I didn’t want to cancel for a second time.
Charlotte Restaurant Week lasts for 10 days, and this time we decided to eat at Bistro La Bon, a Mediterranean restaurant in Plaza Midwood. I have heard a lot about this restaurant but we’ve never eaten there (we don’t go to Plaza Midwood too often).
We really enjoyed the restaurant and its atmosphere. The food was good and the service was great. Here’s what we ended up ordering:
1st Course: K got the farm salad and I got the roasted beet and watermelon salad.
My salad came with candied pistachios… I’d never had them before but they were so good! I hope I never find candied pistachios sold by the bag or else I would have to buy it and eat the whole thing.
2nd Course: We ended up splitting our second courses, which were a pan seared scallop with hazelnut and butternut squash puree and brie brulee (topped with apple chutney and pepper jelly). Both were amazing, but we especially loved the brie.
3rd Course: For our main entrees, K got a crusted rack of lamb and I got the catch of the day, salmon.
Dessert: We ordered the vanilla orange crème brulee and bourbon brioche bread pudding, and we split them both. I really loved the crème brulee and K liked the bread pudding the best. I accidentally forgot that we were sharing the dishes and ate all of the strawberries off of the crème brulee! Woops.
I loved Bistro La Bon and we would definitely go back. They had a little sign on the table that said they would be continuing their Charlotte Restaurant Week menu for the rest of the week and I’d recommend trying them out if you’re interested in getting a taste of several different menu items
The only other exciting thing that happened this weekend was that I got my wine of the month shipment! My awesome mother-in-law got me this subscription as a Christmas gift. Can’t wait to try them out!
Speaking of my mother-in-law, today is her birthday! Happy bday, LK!!!
So I’m going to go ahead and give you my Monday Mileage report a day early because there’s actually not a lot to report. As I mentioned earlier, I am not feeling 100% right now. I started feeling bad on Wednesday, ended up going to urgent care Thursday night and I’m just now am feeling like I’m bouncing back. I may take a nice, long walk after dinner tonight but for now, this is all I’ve managed to do this week:
Monday: gym workout(!) treadmill- 2 miles, elliptical- 1.06 miles
Tuesday: bike ride, 13.3 miles
This Week = 16.36 miles
Total = 200.32 Miles
It’s exciting to pass the 200-mile mark and know that I only have 125 left. I was really hoping to get a few more runs in, especially after last week, but I think it is important to listen to your body and not push yourself when you’re sick.
I’m going to hop off of here now so I can get started on a few things around the house. My big plans today include laundry, making some dinner later on and watching Real Housewives of New Jersey (I know, don’t judge me).
Tomorrow, I have a special post coming about a recent big change in my life. I can’t wait to tell everyone about it!
What happened to those strawberries was not an accident!
Yes it was, I promise ;)
