Happy F-R-I-D-A-Y!
I have today off of work and I’m planning on doing some more bike shopping. I’m headed to Denver this morning to a store called Blood, Sweat and Gears. I’ve never been there, but several of my biking friends highly recommend them.
According to their website, some of the brands they carry are Schwinn Signature, Focus, GT, Cannondale, and Giant. This will be the 3rd store I’ve visited so far in my search for a road bike… I’m really lucky that the Charlotte area has so many great options! I will be sure to report back with how my test rides go today.
In other news, here are some *random* things from this week…
Sleep Issues
I have a problem…. a furry, 4-legged problem. He goes by the name Beamer.
Beamer has slept in our bed ever since he was a puppy (mistake #1) and has not stayed in a crate since he became housebroken 5 years ago (mistake #2). I’m not sure how a 10-lb dog takes up so much room in the bed, but I wake up every single night with my legs hanging over the bed and this guy all sprawled out in the middle.
The problem is that this is really affecting my sleep, which is a hot commodity now that I’m getting up at 5am for my new job. I wake up several times throughout the night to move him and feel like I haven’t felt well-rested in what seems like forever.
We tried making him a “bed” out of blankets in the middle of our bed, but he moves off of it once we fall asleep. We’ve tried not allowing him on the bed and he whines all.night.long (and I wake up to find him on the bed anyway). Crating would be a nightmare at this point because he screams bloody murder when he’s crated. And we have bought him 2 different dog beds for the floor and he has peed on both of them. I guess he’s sending us a message about how he feels about sleeping on the floor.
So I’m at a loss about what to do at this situation. If you have any advice then I would love to hear it

Farmer’s Market
Did you know that August 3-9, 2014 is National Farmer’s Market Week? I actually didn’t know this until I saw something about it come across my Twitter yesterday.
Something I love about my new job is that several times per week, local farmers come and set up a little farmers market right in hospital parking lot. How cool is that? On Tuesday, I purchased a whole box of ~15 tomatoes for $3!!!
You will probably be surprised to hear this, but I used them up by making some slow cooker marinara sauce (pictured above). I used half of the sauce for dinner this week and stuck half in the freezer for later.
If you are in the Charlotte area, here are some local farmer’s markets you could check out this weekend:
Charlotte Regional Farmer’s Market
Matthew’s Community Farmer’s Market
Have a great weekend!
