HAPPY FRIDAY!
I managed to roll out of bed at 4am this morning (for the second time this week) to make it to the pool to swim before work.
While a 4am wake up time is not the most amazing thing ever, I’ve gotten into a pretty good routine to make things as easy as possible for me:
– pack gym bag, work bag, water bottle and lunch the night before
– set out clothes/bathing suit so they’re easily accessible (I wear my suit under my scrubs on the way to the gym to avoid dealing with an extra set of clothes)
– in bed by 9:30pm
This whole routine reminds me of a quote that I’ve always liked:
“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”
Does this quote resonate with you? It is so true for me!!
I will find every excuse under the sun to get out of a workout, but rehabbing my knee is important to me and I know I need to follow through with swimming and PT if I want to get better.
At the advice of my PT, I’m avoiding the breast stroke for now since that caused my knee pain last week. This is kind of sad because that’s the only stroke that doesn’t make me feel like I’m drowning. Oh well.
I’m still doing my PT 2x week. They’ve started taping my knee to help stabilize my kneecap and I’m still getting the iontophoresis treatments. My knee is feeling good right now and I’m looking forward to making more progress!
I hope you have a nice and relaxing weekend!!
Hi, I just found your blog (via a comment you made on another blog). I also studied nutrition but went into a different direction and have worked for HP for 18 years! I still have a passion about it so I am super excited to be a part of your community.
How did you injure your knee? Doesn’t look good.
I swim 2x per week and find it’s a great balance to my cycling and run/walks. Isn’t the water just amazing and so healing?
I am looking forward to getting caught up on past posts.
Take care and happy Friday.
Hi Susan! I was running in August and just felt an acute pain that has not gone away. I switched to a minimalist shoe at work around that same time and I believe that exacerbated the problem. I have since gone back to a supportive shoe and my pain has improved immensely. I have found swimming to be an amazing workout. I wanted to do a tri anyway, so I guess this is good timing. Thanks for stopping by! :)
