Hey guyssssss. Happy Monday to you! I hope you had a great weekend.
On Saturday, I got a new haircut! I have been wanting to get some of the length taken off of my hair for a while, so I was really looking forward to this appointment. I like having long hair but mine is thick and naturally curly, so there is a lot of styling involved. Too much styling. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
It took a bit of discussion for my stylist and I to decide on a good length and the type of layers. I always have to consider how my hair is going to look curly, and how much length I can really take off without waking up the next morning wondering what the hell I have done to myself.
My stylist started off by cutting my hair dry at the beginning of my appointment. She initially took off 2”, and then we ended up cutting it shorter two more times until I was happy with the length.
My previous long hair style had more of an ombre look to it, but my stylist brought my highlights up to my roots with the shorter cut. So far I’m really liking it. It definitely takes less time to blow dry. I feel like a whole new woman
Weekly Goal
Instead of making new year’s resolutions this year, I decided I would set a weekly goal for myself of something I would focus on throughout that specific week. The first week, I made it my goal to drink more water and I was very successful with that. My goal this past week was to walk 10,000 steps on my Fitbit each day.
So how did I do? Not very good. I’m actually kind of embarrassed to report back on this because I did so awful.
The only day I reached my goal steps was yesterday. The weather was beautiful and I took a nice, long walk on the greenway.
I was pretty close on Friday… close, but no cigar! Walking was really hard for me this week because my sleep schedule was way out of wack, so I was tired, and it was raining for most of the week so I couldn’t walk outside.
As awful as I was at my steps this week, setting a goal actually did help me. I purposely walked more at work and went out of my way to get more steps during the day. When I make no effort at all then I usually get ~6,000 steps per day, but I was averaging around 8,500 this past week. So I guess the goal this week was not a complete failure!
I’m ready for a fresh start this week I want to focus on my vegetable intake since it usually drops in the winter. So my new goal is to eat 2.5 C of vegetables each day.
Anyone else working on goals/new year’s resolutions? How are they going?
Something else I’m excited about this week… we ran out of K cups recently, so we decided to put away the Keurig and use our old coffee maker. I like the Keurig in theory but I hate how wasteful and expensive K cups are. I was using a reusable cup for a while but it was harder to clean out than dealing with the regular coffee maker. Kind of defeated the purpose.
We got this coffee maker when we got married and I’m looking forward to having coffee ready for me in the AM using the programmable feature. Our Keurig didn’t have this, and it will be one less step for me in the morning. I am also happy that I can fill my coffee cup all the way to the top in the morning, unlike with 1 K cup and the Keurig!
So what is everyone up to this week? Anything exciting going on? I have Tuesday off and I’m going out of town to see my mom. Her recovery is going well so far I also have a follow-up about my knee this week. Can’t wait.
Have a great week!
The new haircut looks great. A nice length. I’m glad to hear your Mom is doing well!
Thanks, Jen!
