Hey guys! Happy Monday!
Exciting news- I’m going back to work today!
I have exhausted all options of entertaining myself while out on leave so with the approval of my doctor and passing a physical with occ health at work, I am super happy to be getting back into my normal routine again. My PT gave me some great tips on how to tell if I’m overdoing it and what to look for with swelling, and I feel confident physically that I am ready to get back into the swing of things. So wish me luck today!
In other news, I was able to film several vlogs these past few weeks and I’m sharing my first one with you today!
Vlogs are… pretty interesting! I was petrified of recording myself. At my old job, some of the ladies used to make fun of me and say I talked like a valley girl, and I can definitely hear it when I re-watched what I recorded. What can I say? I’m me, haha.
I recorded the vlog on my laptop and didn’t get very creative with editing. Now that I’ve been around the block a few times, I may try to use my DSLR next time!
My first video is to wrap up National Nutrition Month, which ends tomorrow (let’s not even discuss how March is already over). I get a lot of emails from people thinking about entering the field of nutrition and the 2 most common questions I get are:
Do you think I should become a registered dietitian, or can I practice nutrition without an RD?
What job options are there if I don’t want to become an RD?
So this video answers both of those questions as well as touches on the difference between a registered dietitian and a nutritionist.
I hope this video also illustrates the value in seeking a register dietitian for nutrition advice rather than a nutritionist. Registered dietitians go through a pretty extensive process to be able to become an RD, and their education, internship experience, required continuing education, and professional networks definitely make them the most qualified to give evidence-based nutrition advice.
My next vlog is about my thoughts on diet soda, and I will hopefully be publishing that sometime in the next few weeks!
Have a great week!
Have you ever made a vlog before?
Did you do anything fun this weekend?
