So, who would like to help me pick out a new pair of work tennis shoes?
Earlier this week, I posted about a fascia issue in my right foot. I had a conversation about shoes at my last PT appointment, and my ankles in general have been feeling kind of achy. This all made me realize Iβve been wearing my current pair of work tennis shoes for a year now. I think itβs time for a new pair since I work in a hospital and walk a lot.
Iβm limited to grey, black or white sneakersβ¦ this is unfortunate because I love my pink Mizunos.
Iβve had these 3 pair of sneakers in my shopping cart since Friday and canβt decide which pair to get. I know this post is kind of silly but please help me! (side note: my work scrubs are teal)
#1: Mizuno Wave Inspire 11 in White/Purple- I freaking love the feel of this tennis shoe. Itβs so comfy and feels super supportive yet still lightweight. My only hesitation is that I donβt like the white on white toe / netting part on this Mizuno. They look kind of cheap to me in real life. Not that aesthetics are everything but I am going to be wearing this shoe every day to work.
#2: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 in White/Pink- If you read here then you know that Iβm a Brooks girl deep down. Iβve worn the Brooks Adrenaline running shoe for years and have always been happy with them. This is actually the exact model of shoe that Iβm looking to replace, just in a different color. Iβve tried on the GTS 15, the newer model, but itβs cut a little differently. So Iβd prefer to stick with what I know/like in the 14. Anyway, this would be my natural choice since I know and like it, but it kind of takes the fun out of getting a βnewβ shoe when youβre essentially buying the exact same shoe?
#3 Brooks Purecadence 4 in Grey/Teal- I had a pair of the original Purecadences back in 2011/2012 and felt like I was walking on clouds. When I compare this shoe to the previous 2, my only hesitation is that I havenβt worn these in a while. I have worn the other 2 in the exact models. Maybe this wouldnβt even make a difference since Iβm not actually running in them and Iβm completely overthinking it. I love the way they feel on my feet, though, and the grey will probably wear better and not look as dirty in a few months.
So there you have it. If this was a running shoe then I would hands down go by comfort/feeling alone. But since itβs just a work shoe and all 3 are comfortable, Iβm having a hard time choosing.
#3! I’m jealous of your scrubs, my lab coat covers a lot but I still feel like I have to dress up.
I’m lucky to be able to wear scrubs…. not complaining about that one bit!
On looks alone, I would go with option #3. But if you are already having some foot/ankle issues, I would probably go with a shoe that you know won’t cause any additional issues while working (so option #2). I would worry that if you are on your feet all day the difference between the 12 mm drop of the Adrenalines to the 4mm drop of the Purecadence would be problematic.
This is a good point… thanks for bringing that up :)
I vote the Adrenaline. The new color and design makes it a ‘new’ shoe, right? :) I always say go with what you know and feel most comfortable in. If the Brooks are your go-to shoe, I’d stick with them. Plus, I’m a Brooks girl at heart so they always win my vote! Let us know what you decide!
This is true :)
Well, you know my choice, the Adrenalines! :) They are such a pretty show and you get a nice splash of color against the white. They really don’t get dirty fast, so don’t worry about that at all!
Thanks for the insight :)
I love the pure cadences and I think they would be super comfy to wear to work! But Im sure any of them would be good for walking around.
I would go with #2. Go with what you’re familiar with. I say this from experience on this one. I wore some Nike’s to work for about five months. A pair of shoes I would never run in (broke my foot in a pair a few years ago and am kinda anti-Nike, ridiculous?..probably :) ) Anyway, this past month, my feet had been starting to bothering me at work, but when I switched to a new pair of shoes (the same shoes I run in) I felt like a whole new person ha Good luck with your choice!
I love the Pure Cadence… but I do agree with others to be careful with the drop… I run in the Pure Cadence and find that it has enough cushioning, but the drop could be troublesome if you’re on your feet all the time.
