Not gonna lie. This is a hard post to write. I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer yet!!
When I write these monthly posts, there are usually specific items that really stand out to me as being a favorite specifically for that month. August wasn’t really like that for some reason…. so I’m going to just talk about some things that have had my heart all summer.
Farmer’s Market Produce
It used to be hard for me to get to a farmer’s market in Charlotte (traffic, 30-min drive, yeah no). But since I have moved, I have access to 3 weekly markets right down the street from me. They were so convenient for me that I didn’t have an excuse not to go. But what started out from convenience has turned into my favorite Saturday routine…. I love going to the market, talking to the farmers, running into people I know, trying fun samples of things like soaps and desserts and really just being outside doing something. I used to do the majority of my produce shopping at Aldi but it’s gotten to the point where I buy almost no produce at the grocery store besides bananas.
I know I say this every week, but the fruits and vegetables purchased from those farmers’ tables tastes so much better than what I find at the store. And most of the time, it is either the same cost or cheaper. Bonus points- you can have a conversation about how the product is grown and harvested.
Owl Sugar Bowl
A realllly long time ago when I knew I was going to eventually be moving, I came across this little sugar bowl in the hospital gift shop. I love owls and was going through a hard time, so I decided to buy it and save it as a housewarming present for myself. I kept it in my desk at work until I moved, and it was one of the first things I put out when I started unpacking my kitchen. I know this sounds so corny to talk about a freaking sugar bowl like this, but it was kind of symbolic that life moves on and things have a way of working out.
I use this sugar bowl every morning with my coffee (it’s filled with Stevia) and am just reminded of that ^.
Camelbak Eddy Water Bottle
Hi, my name is Sam and I’m addicted to purchasing water bottles.
I might have tried out every water bottle imaginable but I always come back to these. One is actually sitting beside me as I type this! They are durable, leak-proof and come apart easily to clean. The size is perfect for a cup holder. My favorite is obviously my VT bottle
Bare Minerals Eyeliner
I got this BM Lasting Line eyeliner in the color “Lasting Brown” and it may have taken the place of my favorite eyeliner of all time.
Here’s why:
- I know they don’t last as long, but the retractable liners are so much more convenient than the eye pencils that need to be sharpened
- The quality is great and the application is smooth and kind of creamy
- Lasts all day
- It’s a tad cheaper than my previous fav (Urban Decay) at Sephora
- I have started gravitating toward soft brown liners rather than bold/black
Americana Décor Chalk Paint
I am planning to do an entire post about my experience with chalk paint so for now I will just say that I have really been enjoying this brand. So far I have used 3 different colors and painted a night stand, dresser and end table. If you would like to refinish and old piece of furniture but don’t want to deal with extensive prepping/sanding part of it then chalk paint might be for you.
Hello, September
So with that, I will say farewell to August and prepare for everything September has to offer… primarily Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I know, I’m so basic.
On the blogging front, I’m looking forward so sharing some home projects with you, getting my YouTube channel up and going, and reviewing some planners that were sent to me!
What have you been loving lately?
Which do you like more: summer or fall?
I love that collage of summer produce…. it will be missed. Seriously, it’s the best time of the year.
Thank you! It was fun to make :)
I love retractable liners too. I’ve been loving Rimmel one from the drugstore. Cheaper and lasts almost as good as the Sephora ones.
Ooohhh I will have to check that out. Even though I have about 100 liners right now, lol
I think summer and fall are in perfect alignment with one another. I love the month of September because it allows for a slow transition between August and October. Summer is my favorite season (aside from this year), but fall is a close second. I can honestly say that I am REALLY looking forward to all things fall. ☺
I completely agree with you about the slow transition into fall. I do love the weather in September also :)
Haha I love being basic. Some flannel, some apple picking, maybe a fur vest if I’m feeling crazy… all sounds like things I love! I’m obsessed with that owl sugar bowl… the owl was my sorority’s mascot/animal so I have my fair share of owl decor :)
Being basic is what it’s all about :)
I LOVE summer and am sad to see it slip away, although fall is awesome too :). I haven’t gone to the farmers market as much as I wanted to this year, but I think ours is open until December. Love the camelback water bottles!
You guys have an awesome farmers market! I’m jealous of it :)
That owl sugar bowl is so cute, I looooove it!
I also love owls and have to be careful not to buy all the owl stuff, because then that just starts to get weird ;)
Ha, I have that same problem. I do believe things are getting weird in my kitchen, lol. I have a spoon rest, utensil holder and now this.
Hahha- I’m the most basic b around and I love it. Bring on pumpkin, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, apples, ALL of it!
