How to Make a Fall Wreath for $10

Hey guys! Resurrecting an old post because it is on of my favorite things to do when the seasons change. Fall is here and a simple and inexpensive way to decorate your home is to make a fall wreath.

My mom has always been super crafty, and making wreaths is one of her specialties. We always had fun wreaths on our front door growing up so it’s something I’ve continued to do after I left home. I’m not quite as gifted in the creativity area, but I’ve found a few tricks that can make it *look* like I could be Bonus is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on this!

 

 

Here’s all you need:

• Wreath
• Floral Wire
• Wire cutter
• Fall décor of your choice

The key to making this as simple as possible is buying a few seasonal arrangements that already look good together. I like to do this because 1) someone has already done the work for you and 2) pre-made arrangements are cheaper than buying little items individually and trying to arrange them yourself.

The best part about a fall wreath is that almost any little arrangements are going to go together.

Also, don’t limit yourself to the just floral arrangements. I actually thought these little napkin rings would make awesome decorations for my wreath and I only paid $1.50 for each of them (see the end of the post for more cost info).

 

Instructions

• Lay your wreath flat and play around with your décor until you find an arrangement you’re happy with.
• Secure each piece of décor onto the wreath with a piece of wire. I like to wrap the wire around the stem of the décor and through a piece of the wreath several times, and the twist the ends of the wire together like a twist tie.
• Make sure everything on your wreath is secure by standing it up vertically. If anything drops or moves, just secure it with another piece of wire.

 

This year I wanted something a little more plain, but here is my wreath from several years ago. I made it using 2 floral arrangements and a fall leaf garland:

 

Now, on to the cost info. Here is a breakdown of my materials:

• Wreath: $4.99 at Walmart
• Napkin Rings: $1.50 each at A.C. Moore
• Fall floral décor: $2.50 at A.C. Moore
• Floral wire & cutters: already had these
• Total = $10.50

TIP #1: If you’re making a seasonal wreath then be sure to watch the sale ads from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby, A.C. Moore and/or any other local craft store. Seasonal items are usually on sale. Everything I purchased at A.C. Moore was 50% off.

TIP #2: If something isn’t on sale, use a coupon! Michael’s posts their coupons online, so you don’t even have to print them out  

TIP #3: Post-seasonal sales are a great time to buy home décor stuff on clearance. Stock up on some fall wreath decorations right after Thanksgiving to have something for next year.
