A few months ago, I mentioned that I was working on a project for my blog and that I would let you know when it was complete. Today is the day!
I kept a personal blog a long time ago and my entire dietetic internship experience was chronicled there. I get a lot of visits from RD students and I have always wanted to try to get those posts here in G&G. The problem was that the blog was in blogger and there were a few logistical things that needed to be worked out.
Well, Iβm happy to let you guys know that they are all here now and Iβve organized them on my Becoming an RD page. You can read all about me completing my didactic program in dietetics, getting matched with my dietetic internship program, completing the DI and passing the RD exam. Iβm so glad theyβre all finally here! Some of my pictures got lost in the transition and Iβm sad about that, but the experience is still there to read about!
I really loved looking back on that time in my lifeβ¦. I wanted to become an RD so bad and it took a lot of hard work. I am pretty settled in my career as a clinical dietitian now, and working on this project made me feel proud that I put so much effort into working towards where I am today. It has definitely been rewarding!
One of my favorite posts is the day I finished my internship. What a great feeling! I also loved reading about the day I passed my RD exam. I was so happy.
I remember when I first decided I was going to become a dietitian and I realized I was going to have to spend 2.5 years going back to school and then completing an internship. It was something I really wanted but I didnβt know if I had it in me to complete more school (after undergrad and grad school). If you are in the same boat then I would like to give this advice to you: anything worth having is worth working hard for. The time is going to pass anyway so you might as well go for your dreams!
Congratulations!! I know how much hard work that takes, kudos for pushing through and realizing what you’re made of! I can’t wait to hear of the next adventures you have in this career path :)
I am so excited to read through all of your posts! I’m so ready to be in my internship.
Thank you for sharing your insights. Have you thought about being a preceptor?
Yay! This is exciting. I started looking over some of your posts this morning, but I think some of the links aren’t working :-/ For example, the ‘Matched!’ post leads to a post about your intro to nutrition class, and the community posts don’t seem to be working either. I’m excited to read them, though! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for letting me know that! I was kind of having some issues with the links… Thought I got them straightened out but apparently not :) I’ll work on it this weekend. Check back Monday!
Our orientation was a great week! Time flies!!!
