Happy Monday!
Hope you guys had a good weekend. I spent most of mine in Virginia to see Frank Beamer’s last home football game.
I left NC Friday morning and spent the night with my friend, Karen. She was actually my former boss when I worked in the Pamplin College of Business for 3 years during undergrad! It was so fun to catch up with her and reminisce on good times.
Game Day
I got up bright and early on Saturday morning to head to campus to make sure I got a close parking space before the craziness started. I knew where some secret parking spaces were…
at my old apartment complex behind the stadium 
It was nostalgic to be there and think about how many fun memories happened in apartment 16. I lived there 9 years ago!
Campus
After I got parked, I walked to campus to go to the bookstore. I just kept thinking about how I made that same walk hundreds of times going to class when I was a student.
I bought a bunch of stuff I didn’t need from the bookstore and some random shops, but I did keep myself from buying *another* VT nalgene bottle and a shirt that said “Gobble Gobble B-tches” (I felt like people in NC might not appreciate that, ha).
There were signs all over VT thanking Coach Beamer.
I also met up with my friend Felicia and her husband, who went to VT.
Football Game
The game was very emotional since it was Frank Beamer’s last home game as head coach at VT. The stadium was packed. We have a tradition of jumping up and down to Enter Sandman as the team gets ready to run onto the field and Metallica recorded a special intro for this game!
The crowd went absolutely crazy as they were showing Beamer and the team on the jumbotron as they were walking to the stadium.
I wrote a little bit a few weeks ago about my feelings about Coach Beamer and what he means to Virginia Tech. Seeing him lead his team into Lane Stadium one last time is a special moment that I will never forget. I’m so glad I got to be there with my fellow Hokies on Saturday.
UNC was 9-1 so I wasn’t expecting for us to win. The game was actually pretty exciting, though, even though we ended up losing in overtime. The team carried Frank Beamer off of the field on their shoulders anyway… because like he taught everyone, football is not always just about winning.
Thanks for everything you’ve done for VT, Coach Beamer. You will be missed!!
