Hey guys! Just wanted to check in and say hello over this holiday weekend.
My Christmas was relaxed and low-key this year, which was pretty nice! We usually get together at my mom and Johnโs house, but they are a bit displaced right now while they are building a new home. So we call decided to get together for a nice dinner instead.
I got a pork shank and it was reallllllly good 
Another different thing we did this year was that we decided to draw names and do a secret santa gift exchange instead of getting gifts for everyone. We have a big blended family, and there are a lot of people when you factor in spouses and significant others. We drew names and spent about $50 on our person. It was fun to see what everyone got!
It was kind of nice to not have to worry about buying a ton of gifts or traveling this year. I did wish we all could have spent more time together (it seemed weird to see everyone for a few hours for Christmas and have that be it) but I think we will make up for it next year in the new house

Our family is so big now and so many kids, adults draw a name for adults and kids draw for kids. It was insane trying to buy for everyone!
That’s a good idea to separate out the age groups. When I was married, we spent $1,000 on xmas presents one year. It was crazy and I hated it. I much prefer low key Christmases.
