Hey guys! I know I don’t even need to say this because it is pretty obvious but I have been in a huge blogging rut lately! My internet presence has been slim to none, minus snapchatting pictures of my dog, and I’m so sorry!
I felt pretty overwhelmed dealing with my car being stolen earlier this year and I think it put me in a place mentally where I didn’t feel very creative and did not feel like sharing what has been going on in my life. I think it was a combination of feeling violated, dealing with the insurance company (because there were several different claims) and then having to shop for a new car when I really had not planned or prepared to do so. April has been filled with apartment shopping, getting my taxes filed and preparing to move. Life has been busy. Not sure if any other bloggers out there feel like this but I have sat down at my computer so many times to write something but really couldn’t come up with anything interesting to say!
Please hang in there with me for a few more weeks until I can moved and settled into my new place. I am super excited and can’t wait to share it with you guys!
In the meantime, here are a few updates with me:
Workouts
I have been pretty consistent with continuing with my workouts these days. I alternate between strength training, physical therapy exercises and cardio. I have been very happy with how things have been going so far.
I love going out and walking and have been trying to incorporate a run/walk program into my routine to see how my ankle does. Things have been going well with that and I have slowly increased my running. Last week was pretty awesome because I ran a full mile without stopping and didn’t feel like it affected me physically afterwards. You can see it was super slow but I was very happy!
I am getting kind of bored with my normal routine so I joined the Tone It Up bikini babe series to shake things up. They provide you with fitness plans for 8 weeks. It starts today. One thing I wasn’t so sure about was that they have scheduled exercises every day and I feel very strongly that rest days are important. But I looked at their overall workout plan and it doesn’t seem too crazy, so I’m going to give it a try and see how it goes. I will share my thoughts!
I’ve also been trying to get outside as much as I can. Can you blame me? I have some great trail / hiking spots near me.
Diet / Nutrition
I have been following more of a Mediterranean-type style of eating these days with really trying to beef up my veggies and incorporate some fish into my meals twice per week. I think I got even more interested in the health benefits of this diet when we focused on it for National Nutrition Month in March at work. I still love other meats and eat them regularly, but I have tried to turn my focus to my veggies instead.
I’m also LOVING my grill this spring. Many tasty meals have come from it recently.
Fun Things
I met up with my sister last weekend to go to an I Love the 90s Concert. It was SO fun. Some performers included Coolio, Salt n Pepa, All 4 One, Color Me Badd and Rob Base. There were actually 6 or 7 performers total but I don’t remember them all. There were so many people that they pretty much just sang their hits.
Seeing Coolio live in concert pretty much made my life.
Stay tuned tomorrow for a Lately post! Have a great day
p.s. I stayed up until midnight last night to buy Beyonce’s new album and it was not on itunes!!
I have not been reading blogs like I’ve wanted to recently… please leave a comment below and tell me what has been up with you these days!!
Hahaha I love that you stayed up to buy Bey’s album! Can’t believe it wasn’t on itunes – can you get it through Amazon’s streaming service or is it like Kanye’s album and only available on Tidal? (ugh).
That concert looked like so much fun! I have been on a 90s/early 2000s kick lately (okay let’s be real, by lately I mean always). I was listening to the 1996 Grammy’s hits album the other day … Gangsta’s Paradise was so good! haha
I saw an article that says its on iTunes today but I swear I can’t find it!!!
I love grilling out! And yay for hiking outside. The weather in Charlotte has been absolutely beautiful lately. Blog ruts happen to the best of us and I’ve found it’s better not to force it. It will come back to you. Have a great week, sam!
It definitely has! I like these warm-but-not-too-hot temps! Have a nice weekend as well.
I’ve missed your posting, but totally understand life getting in the way! The salad looks incredible. I’d totally eat that everyday!
Hopefully I’ll get back into a regular groove soon :)
