Back when I started this blog (over 2 years ago!) I never thought there would be a time when I would lose sight of blogging. I loved to sit down at my computer and share things with you guys every night. But then life happened! Carving out time to write posts and edit photos seemed to become a bit cumbersome, it was hard to relate to many of my blogging buddies as I recovered from the torn tendon in my foot and most of all I was running out of things to say.
I think itβs okay to step away from something when you feel like you need to, and I think it has been good for me to put this blog on the back burner for a while.
But a big part of me has missed posting on a regular basis, and I miss checking in with some of my blogging friends. So I have the best intentions of getting back into a blogging routine. Iβm not sure if Iβll ever get back to posting every day but I am hoping to post at least a few times per week.
I thought it would be a great start to catch up with everyone!
The Crib
We moved into our new apartment about 3 weeks ago and Iβm just now finishing the last stages of unpacking. I was a little worried about downsizing since I went from a 2 bedroom / 2 bath place all by myself to sharing an even smaller space with another person, but it has actually been cathartic getting rid of a bunch of old stuff.
My favorite part of our apartment is definitely our kitchen. I love having an island open to the living room. Lots of room for cooking and entertaining at the same time!
Roomie
Thanks for all of your advice back in the fall about whether living with a roommate was something I should consider. It was definitely the right choice for me from all aspects! I was planning on βintroducing youβ to him in the post but I forgot to ask him if it was OK to post his picture; he went to bed before I published this! But he is awesome, so thatβs the main thing you need to know right now
New Bike !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been in the market for a new mountain bike for a while now and decided to pull the trigger once I got moved and settled. It was kind of like a housewarming gift to myself! haha.
I have been keeping my eye out for either a used, higher-end hardtail or full suspension bike since the new year. This was posted in the Charlotte Bike Market (you HAVE to check out this group if you are a cyclist in the Charlotte area) and I knew she was meant to be in my life the second I saw her.
The bike is a 2013 Specialized Epic Come and was previously owned by someone almost my exact same size who used it for racing. Iβm not sure Iβll ever be out there racing the trails, but I know there are many fun adventures to be had on these new wheels! I already have a biking day planned with one of my friends next weekend and Iβm also looking into several local cycling groups. And yes, I took the bike out immediately and got it nice and muddy
New Guy
So I hope Iβm not jinxing things by mentioning this here but I have a new guy in my life! B and I have been dating for a few months and I really enjoy spending time with him. I donβt knowΒ if thereβs ever a right time to introduce a guy to your blog readers, but we do a lot of things together and it seemed like it would be a little hardΒ to purposely avoid mentioning him moving forward. Sorry, no picture of him today.
I think he knows the way straight to my heart because he got a new mountain bike this weekend! We took a breezy ride through the greenways and downtown Charlotte this past weekend, but Iβm really looking forward to hitting some trails together in the future.
Same Sidekick
Of all of the changes that have happened in my life since we last checked in, one thing remains the same!
Lily is still busy being the awesome little furry baller that she is. I was worried about how she would do with the move but she has adjusted just fine. Still lovable but also still a diva
I have something else exciting to share with you but I think it deserves its own blog post. So stay tuned this week for that!
What is an exciting purchase youβve made recently?
Do you prefer mountain biking, road biking, or no biking? I like road biking and mountain biking for different reasons. I feel a lot safer mountain biking on trails and itβs just fun and relaxing to me. The competitive side to me likes road biking to test my times, endurance, etc. I like cycling because itβs a great workout without being too hard on your body.
What did you do this weekend? I worked. Womp Womp.
Glad to have you back! My blogging has pretty much been down to once a week the past year with everything going on but I’m hoping to get up to twice a week later this summer. Congrats on the new bike purchase and the new man in your life ;)
Thank you!
WOW so many exciting things going on! Can’t wait to hear more about B :)
So exciting about the new bike! I just purchased a Cartier bracelet for myself as an early 30th birthday present. I’m so freakin excited about it. Not sure if I’m going to post about it on the blog specifically but I’m sure it’ll start making appearances here and there in pics soon!
I LOVE buying jewelry!! Definitely a “treat yo’ self” kind of thing ;) you should snap a pic of it
So glad to have you back!
I’m a big fan of blogging breaks when needed, too :)
It sounds like you have a lot of awesome in your life right now – so happy for you!
Thanks, Ange! I am obviously a big fan of blogging breaks as well. I also think it’s clear when a blogger needs to take a break and is really scraping the bottom of the barrel for content. I didn’t want to head down that road, lol.
