Hey, hey and happy Tuesday! I know this post is kind of a day late but I spent the weekend traveling and completely crashed when I got home on Sunday evening.
I hope you had a great weekend. I spent mine in Virginia visiting friends and family. But before I delve into a weekend recap, you might notice that Iβm sporting a new accessory in some of my photos.
Wrist Update
I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was in a bike fall when I started my triathlon training. Initially I thought I came out unscathed, but after a few days I knew I had done something to my wrist. I went to the orthopedic urgent care shortly thereafter and the doctor who saw me said it looked like I could have a small fracture in my wrist. I had been wearing a brace since then while I waiting for an orthopedic appointment for a follow-up appointment.
I went for the appointment on Friday and got a hard cast. I have another follow-up in 2 weeks to take a new x-ray.
Am I embarrassed that this is my 3rd orthopedic injury in the past 3 years? Maybe. Possibly. Definitely.
I thought I would really be bummed with the cast since obviously I cannot swim, but my wrist has been throbbing with pain for several weeks and already feels a little better with a few days in the hard cast.
Obviously this has been a huge damper on my triathlon training. I could still technically do anything when I had the splint, but my bike got messed up in the accident and my hand has been too painful to really do much anyway. Also, the fall has got me thinking a lot about my road bike and the safety of biking, as a wreckless driver was ultimately the cause of my accident. Iβm not sure if I will really feel comfortable riding my road bike around Charlotte anymore, but I guess weβll see once I get my bike out of the shop and can get back to riding. Iβm planning on sticking to my trainer for a little bit.
Trip to VA
I was supposed to go to a bachelorette part in Virginia on Friday night but was so late leaving the ortho that I basically missed the entire party by the time I got to VA. I spent the night at the party house and left early the next morning to visit my grandmother. B was traveling for work and met me in DC to spend the evening there and grab dinner.
We stayed in DuPont Circle and met my brother at a restaurant called District Commons for dinner. We got the steak tartare as an appetizer and I ordered the salmon as my entrΓ©e.
Both were really good!
Went with a margarita for a drink.
Iβm excited to be heading to a baseball game tonight (if the weather cooperates) and Iβm picking up my bike from the shop tomorrow!
What did you do this weekend?
Where are your favorite places to eat in DC (if youβve been )?
Awwww cute pic of you and B! Now he’s blog famous!
I’m glad the hard cast is helping to alleviate the pain some, but I’m sorry that you have to be in it and it’s hampering your training! Hoping for a speedy recovery!!!!
I hope posting a picture doesn’t put a curse on our relationship
Whenever I see bikers going down busy roads, it’s make me so nervous. I believe in sharing the road, but some people are terrible drivers!
The meal looks delicious! Glad you had a goood time!
Yes, and some drivers purposely try to be spiteful because they don’t think cyclists should be in the road. It can be dangerous!
