Hey guys! I hope you are having a great week!
Late last week, I traveled to VA for my little sister’s wedding weekend. I really enjoyed catching up with family and participating in all of the wedding festivities.
My sister and Dustin got married in our hometown of Roanoke, VA. They wanted their day to be a reflection of their own personal styles and I definitely think they accomplished that!
Sadly, I did not get a lot of pictures of the bride because I didn’t want to get in the way of the photographer. But I know she will have lots of great professional photos coming soon! Here are a few sneak peaks:
Congrats, Molly and Dustin!
Several days of travel, dining out and the wedding reception got me thinking about something that I know can seem difficult: balancing eating nutritious meals when you’re traveling or going to a series of food-centric events.
I keep a lot of the same philosophies about my meals during celebration-type events as I do my everyday life: Drink lots of water. Always squeeze in vegetables when you can. Listen to your body when it comes to feeling hungry and full. Enjoy treats and indulgences here and there. Stay active and use exercise as a way to spend time with family and friends!
^ Greek salad when we got into Roanoke- ate at one of my fav childhood restaurants
^ enjoyed some frozen lemonade with B. The owner remembered me from when I was a kid!
^ Ran 3.5 miles for half marathon training!
^ Ordered an egg white frittata with mushrooms (bridal party breakfast at Hotel Roanoke)
^ Dinner buffet at the wedding
^ Loxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (my fav!)
How do you find a healthy balance when you’re traveling or celebrating?
Do you have a favorite childhood memory from your hometown? We used to get frozen lemonade all the time during the summer. I always stop in for a cup whenever I’m in town!
Have a great week!
I love your sisters dress! My little brother is getting married this fall and I can’t wait for the wedding!
I do indulge on snacks when I am traveling, but I try to keep meals as healthy as possible. Exercise is more challenging when traveling. I am very impressed that you still fit in a training run!
I was surprised as well! The weather was perfect and I had a few free hours, so it just kind of worked out! Congrats to your brother :) family weddings are so fun.
That wedding was absolutely stunning, your friend made a gorgeous bride!
