Hey guys! Happy Friday!
Some really important things have happened over the past week!
#1- I finished all my dental work. Yep, I had a root canal and 2 crowns done in the span of 11 days. I would have preferred to space things out a bit but I was losing my good government dental insurance and needed to get it done fairly quickly. There was a lot of valium, nitrous oxide and post-appointment milkshakes involved, but I survived. Having your boyfriend accompany your sedated self to the dentist and see you go into the dentist’s bathroom and start crying is a great way to take your relationship to the next level. Poor guy had no idea what he was getting himself into.
#2- This week was my first official week of being an entrepreneur. Wooohooo! I had to do a bunch of exit paperwork at my previous job on Monday, and it was a surreal feeling leaving at the end of the day. Things have been busy but good with G&G. I have picked up some new clients and corporate wellness opportunities. I also just got approved to accept Blue Cross Insurance, which I am hoping will be the foundation of my private practice. I started part-time with a wellness company and will start PRN at the hospital next week. So fun and crazy at the same time!
#3- Headshots. So. I have tried to be super smart financially with starting my business. I don’t have any regrets about doing this, although it has been hard to avoid shiny-object syndrome (swank office, new laptop, larger printer… all things that could have been on the shopping list). Now that my client base is growing, I decided to treat myself to some professional photos for my website. I used a photographer from my hometown who how lives in Charlotte, Tara Lilly. She has shot several of my friends’ weddings and I love her work. She was super sweet to include Lily in some of the photos. I’m excited to see how the rest turn out.
#4- Our local farmer’s market is open for extended times over the summer and I’m loving it! Going to the farmer’s market is such a simple and inexpensive way to eat healthier and support your local economy at the same time.
#5- Here are some photos of recent eats… lots of Greek salads (I’m on a kick?), BBQ with some brussels and collards, and sushi were the highlights of my week. I also hit up the hot bar at Whole Foods. I love their variety of vegetables. I tried their friend tofu and it was pretty good!
What is your favorite thing to get at the farmer’s market? I love strawberries in the summer.
Any fun plans this weekend? We are getting a couch delivered and I have a hair appointment. My roots are only about 4” long at this point
