HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!
Woo Hoo.
I love fall, especially in North Carolina. The weather cools down, the trees are beautiful and everything feels so crisp and fresh. I know how basic this sounds but I really love football, pumpkin spice lattes and skinny jeans with boots.
The change of seasons is a great way to reevaluate your daily habits, stress, sleep, physical activity and nutrient intake. If you’ve been inactive then maybe move a little more-doing what you love! Try new vegetables. Visit your farmer’s market. Maybe make bedtime earlier. Basically, is there anything that you can do to make you feel like the best version of yourself this fall?
I’m ready for new season both career and life-wise, so the idea of fall is extra exciting to me this year. It’s funny to think that just this summer I left my full-time job, started 2 new jobs, continued to grow a business, and got engaged. Life changes! I am looking for a much calmer fall.
A few randoms from this week:
Recent Eats
My meals have been all of the place these days, which I think is just a representation of life right now. Sometimes I eat a breakfast bar in the car on the way to work and sometimes I cook breakfast at home.
Some days I spend an hour cooking dinner and some days I get takeout from Viva Chicken.
Regardless of what has been going on, I always try to eat a lot of fruits, vegetables and whole grains, stay hydrated and find some semblance of nutritional balance.
Professional Branding
I’ve connected with a company to do some professional branding for G&G. I have felt kind of confused with how to tie my counseling company, my blog, and now my podcast together, and how to create clear messaging that connects everything. For example- is it obnoxious to have pink on my website? Is it okay to talk about nail polish and hair stuff in my blog? Will a cute-sy podcast name turn off busy female professionals? I have no idea.
The branding company will help me build the foundation for my message and I will also get a new logo and a few other things for my site. We will be working together for the next 6 weeks, and I can already tell after just 1 meeting that this experience is going to be awesome for G&G and for me as a female business owner! I will be sure to share my experience when it’s over
Lily
Oh Lils. I can’t remember how much I have shared with you about her vision issues. She has had cataracts for years and recently we’ve realized that she is now completely blind. I will spare you a lot of the details for how difficult it has been over the past few months, but it is clear that her quality of life has started to decline because of this . I have always known there was an eye surgery that could fix her cataracts, but I talked about it with my vet a while ago and decided to let her be. I’ve hoped she would just adjust and happily live out her golden years. So many things have happened lately that I’ve had a change of heart. I’m going to take her to an animal eye doctor this week just for a consultation to talk about getting them fixed. I’m not really sure what I will end up doing because she is 12, but I feel like looking into it is the right thing to do.
Do you know anyone whose pet has had cataract surgery? I would love to hear about it.
Anything you’re excited about for fall? I am going to a conference and a home VT game this fall, so I’m excited about that!
I hope everything goes well with Lily! I worked for a vet while I was in high school and he referred many aging pets to an animal ophthalmologist and they had many, many success stories-we continued seeing many of those patients the whole time I was at the clinic and I’m sure many years after that :) Keep us updated, because I love watching her on your blog and instagrams!
