Hey friends!
Hope your Friday is off to a great start. B and I took off of work yesterday and today for a little staycation. We were originally supposed to be soaking up the sun in the Virgin Islands this week, but the area and hotel has unfortunately been devastated by the hurricane. If you would like to donate the Virgin Islands then I would recommend giving money to Bethenny Frankel’s B Strong foundation. She is doing awesome things over there (and in Puerto Rico).
Instead of going somewhere else on vacation, we decided to cancel and stay home. We worked at the beginning of the week but saved 2 days to be off and spend some time together.
B planned a Spa day yesterday and I thought that was really sweet. He arranged for us to get a couple’s massage and then pedicures together at The Spa at Ballantyne. It was a great way to relax!
We started out the visit by splitting up and heading to different locker rooms. I changed into a robe, locked my belongings up and lounged around in a waiting area until it was time for the massage. The lounge area was so calm and peaceful. There were comfy chairs and couches, a fire, fruit-infused water, coffee, snacks and magazines. The locker room also had showers and a sauna. It was so nice! Once it was time for the massage, our masseuse accompanied us to the massage room. I don’t get a ton of massages so this was definitely a treat!
Once the massage was over, we went back to the locker rooms until it was time for our pedicures. B had never had a pedicure before but he said he liked it. I tried to convince him to get his nails painted, but he didn’t want to do that for some reason? I chose the color Lincoln Park After Dark for mine. We really enjoyed chatting with the ladies in the nail salon!
If you purchase services at the spa then you get a complimentary drink and access to their other facilities. We both had a glass of champagne and hung out at the indoor pool for a little bit until my nails dried.
We really enjoyed the spa and I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a way to relax and pamper yourself.
Later in the evening, we had dinner at Soul Gastrolounge. It’s one of our favorite restaurants in Charlotte and also where we first met. When we go, we always get the shells and cheese, pork belly tacos and moscow mules because it’s what we ordered on our first date
New Recipe
I wanted to share a new recipe with you that I recently tried: Creamy Mushroom & Tarragon Chicken from Clean Eating Magazine. If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably already seen it. If you like mushrooms and you’re searching for a new meal to throw into the mix then I would definitely recommend this one. I followed the recipe to a T and the chicken turned out very tender. I cooked it with asparagus instead of beans, and next time I might try to just mix more veggies in together rather than making them separately.
Have you tried anything new lately?
