Hi friends! Happy New Year!
I love how today feels like a fresh start, even if technically not much has really changed since yesterday. I’m down for any day or holiday that inspires us to take a second look at ourselves and our life!
B and I went out for dinner last night and then watched the ball drop at home in our PJs. I’ve been trying to make more of an effort to be fully present at significant/important events so I did not take any photos at dinner.
Lily had too much fun partying so she was out before midnight.
I feel like the end of 2017 was kind of heavy for me, and moving into 2018 feels like a breath of fresh air. I went through a lot of changes in life in 2017, and while most of them were good, lots of good changes at once can still be stressful. Work stuff, Lily being sick and also trying to plan our wedding (we had booked no vendors until recently- our wedding is in 4 months ) just kind of hit me at once in November and December. Lily ended up needing 24/7 supervision after her surgery, and helping her heal these past few weeks was more than I anticipated. I feel like things are thankfully on the uphill with her, I’m in a solid groove with G&G right now and we planned most of our wedding stuff last week. Things in life have felt more settled and I’m ready for 2018! This was on my tea the other day… so appropriate right now
Lily still has 2 months left of healing and close supervision. Something that B and I decided would be good for me right now with taking care of her is to set up my home office a little better. It’s currently the room where everything goes to die. My stuff is kind of all over the place and I end up working from the couch (and doing laundry, and dishes, and everything else). So I’ve spent the weekend cleaning out my office at home, and I also went to Ikea for to get some new office furniture and better storage yesterday. I already have my G&G office where I see clients, so I’m not trying to do anything fancy or expensive at home. But it will be great for my productivity to have a good space upstairs, away from distractions. Looking forward to being a bit more organized this month!
Podcast
I was hoping to officially launch the podcast tomorrow but it is still being reviewed by iTunes. I didn’t realize that you have to formally submit your podcast for approval and that the whole process can take up to 3 weeks. I read online that it usually only takes a few days, but obviously it has been the weekend and a holiday. Apparently someone actually listens to your episode and approves it! Cool stuff. I submitted everything last week but it hasn’t gone through yet. I’m still excited!
Nutrition & Exercise Planning Party
Don’t forget that it starts tomorrow! We have a great group of ladies signed up ready to plan out a healthy 2018. I would love it if you joined us! Read the details and sign up here.
G&G Survey
I worked with a branding company a few months ago to help me with my logo, messaging and figuring out how to mesh my blog and podcast with my business. Something we talked a lot about was my brand and what type of content feels like a good fit. This was a great process and I feel a lot more confident with the types of clients I want to work with and who I’m trying to speak to through Grapefruit & Granola (both the blog and the podcast).
I would love your feedback on what types of topics you’d like to see here. I’ve created a short survey asking for your feedback. If you complete the survey then you will be entered to win a $20 gift card to amazon or starbucks. Thanks so much for your thoughts!!! Take survey here
