Starting a Nutrition Private Practice

January 14, 2023June 7, 2023 Starting a Nutrition Private Practice

It’s really hard to believe I have been a nutrition private practice owner for over 6 years! I officially “launched” my business in January 2017 after months of planning, and I’m really proud of what I’ve built!Having my own business has been wild but also incredibly rewarding. Of course I love the unlimited income possibilities, but I also value the flexibility in my schedule and the impact I’m able to make on clients’ lives (something I truly didn’t feel like I was doing when I worked in the hospital). But running a nutrition private practice as a dietitian has also been a learning experience. No one teaches you business skills in nutrition school! I have learned so much from so many other amazing nutrition entrepreneurs and I hope this information may help some of you!

Dietitian Business Coaching Services

One of the best investments you can ever make in your business is coaching from an experienced dietitian to help you develop a strategy and action steps for how to grow your business. I have always invested in a coach and wouldn’t be where I am without one.

I’m excited to share that I now offer dietitian business coaching services!

If you feel stuck in your nutrition business and want some support in how to move forward, then I’d love to help you! I have 2 options business coaching:

1. Schedule a 90-Minute Coaching Intensive

This dietitian business coaching intensive is perfect for you if you would love to strategize with a coach without the commitment of ongoing business coaching.

In this nutrition coaching intensive, topics I commonly help my registered dietitians with include:

  • How to get started building a business while working clinical
  • Attracting your most dreamy clients to fill up your schedule
  • Social media strategy to convert your audience into customers on Instagram
  • Creating aligned services if something about your current offer or ideal client feels a little “off”
  • Scaling your services so that you’re not constantly trading time for money

This service is perfect for someone who is motivated to do things on your own but just wants help coming up with an action plan.

Do you find the topic of dairy and PCOS to be conf Do you find the topic of dairy and PCOS to be confusing? 👇🏼 Here are some things to know:⁣
➡️ There’s no conclusive research that indicates you need to eliminate dairy just because you have PCOS.
➡️ There is research indicating that it’s better for PCOS if you switch to full-fat dairy.
➡️ Eliminating dairy may help acne in some cases, but this is individualized. I always recommend switching to full-fat first before doing a trial elimination. The fat is better for insulin levels and androgen levels.
➡️ Nutrition is individualized. If you don’t do well dairy because you have an intolerance or feel like it has helped you then do what works for you.

So much of the nutrition advice for insulin resistance and lowering blood sugar with PCOS is unnecessarily restrictive and can leave you feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. 😭
There are so many strategies we can implement to balance blood sugar while enjoying carbs, a couple of which are looking at the type of pasta or pairing pasta with protein and fat.
Being diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes may feel scary, but it is possible to feel more at peace with food choices and to enjoy food!

Restrictive advice for PCOS can make you feel overwhelmed and confused. And it's unnecessary.
You can lower blood sugar independent of weight.
You don't have to completely cut out sugar to manage blood sugar.
You can still enjoy carbs, too. 🎉
Don't forget that I'll be hosting a FREE masterclass about my top 3 strategies for lowering blood sugar with PCOS. Everything will be taught from a non-diet approach.

Have you ever impulsively purchased a “gadget” Have you ever impulsively purchased a “gadget” that promised to give you clarity when it came to your health….
…but then you ended up more overwhelmed, more confused, and out a few hundred dollars?
Sure, there may a time and place for some of these health gadgets like a smart ring, apple watch, CGM, etc, but I don’t recommend it to be your first line of treatment.
A member from my recent group coaching program shared that she found great improvement in her insulin resistance by eating breakfast.
Breakfast is GOOD, but it’s not a bright, shiny object promising you data that makes you feel more “in control” of something. It’s not a hot selling point. It’s not a “sexy” piece of advice that sounds too good to be true. But it’s simple and something any of you listening can try. And often that’s all you need.
Focusing on simple shifts + listening to our body can be more valuable than any gadget because (believe it or not) YOU know your body better than anyone or anything else.
I share some more reflection of what my group coaching members found helpful in the post recent episode of the Nourished with PCOS podcast!
In episode 34, you can hear about:
-Where to start with healing binge eating
-What to look for with your support system
-Why the small things matter the most with PCOS
