I completed the 2nd day of my dietetic internship orientation today! Almost halfway there :)
It was an early morning for me because I had a meeting with my internship director at 7:15. I did get about 8 hours of sleep last night so that was good! I didn’t have time to sit down and eat breakfast so I grabbed something in the lobby on my way out the door:
My meeting went really well and it looks like I’m all good to start my first rotation next week. I did accidentally forget to bring my verification statement (you have to submit an original copy) but K overnighted for me. Best husband ever!
Today was very informative because we got into the nuts and bolts of the internship. We talked about what is expected of us, how our rotations will work and a few of the bigger projects we will have to submit. I’m starting my rotations next week but going through all of this made me wish I had taken a week off prior to starting. I feel like there is SO much information to absorb and it would be nice to have an extra week to go through everything and get my ducks in a row. Oh well… I guess I’m diving right in!
We also reviewed all of our tube feeding calculations. I don’t know why I was so bent out of shape about them because I got almost every calculation right. Oh yeah.
We got a meal voucher to eat lunch on campus and I really liked the little cafe here. They had a lot of healthy options, including an awesome salad bar. I ended up with a made-to-order turkey wrap.
After orientation, I chilled out in my room for a little bit and then took the shuttle into downtown Salt Lake City. I honestly have not looked into anything to do here because I’ve been so overwhelmed with internship work, but people at the hotel recommended the downtown area. I’m seriously in love with SLC. The city is clean, the people are friendly and there are sidewalks everywhere. Here are a few pictures from my sightseeing adventure:
Our group presents a group project tomorrow. Wish us luck!
