5 weeks down… 2 more to go!
And then there’s this…
But who’s counting? :)
My food service rotation is completely flying by. One minute it’s Monday and the next it’s Friday. One good thing about doing this rotation at the beginning of the school year is that there is always something going on to keep you busy. This also has made it hard to keep up with my work, though.
Since I work in school nutrition anyway, I made it a goal to step outside of my box and do things during this rotation that I do not normally do, or aren’t part of my regular job duties. Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to:
Learned more about equipment. I’m cleaning a braising pan right here.
Worked in inventory out at the schools. This is what your hand looks like when you’ve been in a walk-in freezer for a while (and I was even wearing gloves).
This is an industrial hose. Please note the handle feels backwards when you hold it, and this may result in you spraying yourself like an idiot. Not that I did that or anything.
I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to spend more time in the schools. It is so easy to lose sight of all of the work that goes into making school meals when you’re sitting at a desk in the office.
Here’s to 2 more weeks!
