This week has been exciting because I *officially* started my DI rotations. These are the rotations I have to complete before I can take my RD exam:
- Orientation- 1 week (completed!)
- Inpatient Clinical- 6 weeks
- Outpatient Clinical- 3 weeks
- Long-Term Care Clinical- 2 weeks
- Staff Experience Clinical- 2 weeks
- Community- 4 weeks
- School Food Service Management- 5 weeks*
- School Nutrition Education- 2 weeks
*The school food service rotation is actually longer but I received prior assessed learning credit for some of that time
Each rotation has its own set of papers, projects, assignments, and/or lectures & quizzes. See ya in December, when I will have a life again ;-)
This week I started my clinical rotations:
I will not be writing about the specifics of this rotation because of HIPAA (and just plain ole’ professionalism) but I do plan on sharing things I have learned about myself and tips for other interns.
This week has been really funny, actually. I realized that I have spent 2+ years getting to the point of being able to actually do a dietetic internship but I never put much thought into the internship itself. I mean, I knew I would be going around to different locations and working with different types of dietitians, but I didn’t think much about all of the new things I would be learning. I have seriously learned more in the past 3 days than I did in undergraduate and graduate school. It has been pretty neat! I’m definitely looking forward to the next few months :)
